Description of the woodcarving in the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia

The Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia dates from the 30s of the last century. It was built to serve the Ban, whose main office was in the building of today's Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia, while after the liberation all subsequent Presidents of the Republic of Macedonia have worked in the same Cabinet. The plan of the building of the Assembly of the Republic of Macedonia was drawn up by the architect Victor Hudak (Scheck).

Everything in the Cabinet of the President of the Republic of Macedonia is the same as it has been decorated and planed 70 years ago. The whole interior consisting of: bigger carvings decorating the walls and the ceiling, the furniture, the working desk of the President, the dressing and even the parquet with mosaic pattern, date from 1938, when the shaping of the space was completed.

The parquet in the Cabinet was lined up in order to get a mosaic appearance of the floor, while the wood has been brought from Africa.

The design of the carving was prepared upon the model of the Florentine Carving School. It was done by Dragutin Inkastriot - Medenjak, who was born in Split in 1866 and died in Belgrade in 1942. The design was carved by Kosta Glishiq, from Tetovo and in part by Nestor Aleksievic and his son Todor. The whole carving is made of walnut wood.
